is anyone out there serving as the cayman islands of academic research?
i’m kind of surprised that there aren’t more phony research centers that allow notional “senior fellow” academics to park grant funding away from the prying eyes of university overhead for a small fee.

Yeah, I’m thinking this ends up being kind of a fun model for bootstrapping field building: the tax benefit comes with the cost of producing a paper on a target topic as part of your “fellowship”
