SO had earnings of 50 mill in 1900, about 1.5 bill today. Don't know revenue, but wouldn't be surprised if above 50 bill. Founded in 1870, I believe.
Overall, this seems closely related to the surprisingly regular growth of GDP, and I wonder if there are models which can explain this graph essentially as a byproduct of the growth of GDP. Also seems related to the "innovation: slowing down, speeding up" question.
