It's interesting getting old: more and more of the people you meet have lived their entire life in what seems like a thin layer of the now. It gets a bit hard to take them seriously.

Interesting! I find different ages tend to understand different things; I've learnt a lot being mentored by 25 year olds and by 75 year olds.

How do you find younger mentors? I can imagine it might seem gauche to discuss the relationship as such, so do you just ... sidle into it? Asking for myself.

I find people whose work I admire, and make friends with them. That's rewarding on its own, and I learn a lot; sometimes it turns into collaborations, and inevitably I then learn immense amounts.
