I love that piece - partially because I love watching Federer so much. I can't watch him serve without thinking of the "great liquid whip". (Kyrgios serves like that, too.)

Amusing: rereading the piece, I realize DFW used "great liquid whip" to describe Fed's forehand. Which means I've been misremembering it for 13 years. I don't think I can unsee his serve like that.
