If, hypothetically, you were trying to become a world-class freestyle rapper from scratch, how would you go about it (besides the obvious, e.g. practice, compete, etc)?

I've learnt so much by asking basic questions and displaying my own ignorance... but in many situations don't do it nearly as much as I could.
Oh! One nice variant on "date the best [etc]": find some way of doing a collaborative project with them (which a relationship is a special case of, anyway). And then ask lots of questions about how they do different things.
