@backus will prob fight me on this, but I think it depends on your audience! I'm not sure people would read my 10k+ word blog posts. (Then again, I don't think I've written one...) -
I'll bet they would, if you really really cared about something that needed to be said at 10k words.

How about things longer than a tweet but too short for a blogpost? Should they just be really short blog posts as well? Man blogs are versatile!

The most read thing I've ever written, by far, is quite long:https://jakeseliger.com/2012/10/20/why-you-should-become-a-nurse-or-physicians-assistant-instead-of-a-doctor-the-underrated-perils-of-medical-school …

My most read pages are my longest ones. Haven’t counted words but the hexagon guide has 37 images, and a picture is 1000 words, so it’s at least 37k words, right? ;-)

It’s harder to get a long form post right, but if you do it’s more rewarding for the reader. I saw a blip from Medium staff once that the “optimal” length for traffic is 7 minutes. Believe me I’ve tried it’s hard to cover anything of substance in a 7 minute read.

Totally agree. My longest post ,"The Unreasonable Effectiveness of Quasirandom Sequences." (5000+ words) is by far my most popular post. http://ow.ly/yQBy30nkBcN
