I've split my adult life three ways (Australia, Canada, US). Australia has a surprisingly large number of advantages as a place to take risks. No places like the Bay, though, where you can find a few thousand+ people crammed together all interested in big swings.
Totally agree. I always found the Aussie tall poppy thing to be an impediment to risk taking, or thinking bigger than the local market. It's been a decade back in the states for me, though I'm in NYC now. I'd love to see how a stronger safety net here would affect new biz starts.
