Things I *do* struggle a bit to understand, however: Why is it completely kosher across the industry for "editorial shaping" to be done on what is presented as neutral reporting? When it happens why is it likewise kosher for there to be no indication in, say, the byline? —>

I often wonder this too. I'm sure it's part of the reason the MSM is dying. Old school journalists may accept this, but why would anyone else? So talent goes elsewhere.
