This is a conversation that's been had many times before. If there's some really new point here I'm happy to hear it, but otherwise suggest leaving the discussion to a forum which is designed to go deep on good-faith disagreement.
The difference should be human permanence on the Moon and Mars. These should be the goals of our human space exploration program. If this is at the center of any plan, we will expand into the Solar System and boost the economy.
Really? Has not even Jeff Besos recently rediscovered that studies in the early 1980s discovered that planetary settlements are not the most efficient way of sustaining a large global civilization? Building artificial space habitats is far more efficient and less risky?
