I dont get the figure description. What exactly is the size of the circle? The abs. amount of co2 emissions? Also, why does it say energy consumption?
I assume the energy consumption is just a typo. AFAICT the size of the circles is total CO2 emissions - certainly, China's at that point was (slightly) higher than the US's, which matches the relative sizes of the circles. Not the best labelling, TBH.
I think the bubbles are just to tell the absolute emissions story. The takeaway is that in 2010, China's C02 emissions exceeded US emission on an absolute basis. By 2015, China's FF emissions were double that of US. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions …
