Expectations are an attempt to control the world, and they will eventually disappoint or destroy. They're in the basket of things that need to be held lightly, along with identities and ideologies.

Or like founders: with (simultaneously) incredible conviction, and a good dose of skepticism. Also true of anyone doing other types of creative work - writers, scientists, artists, etc.

There's the person who writes, and thinks every idea is God's balls. And the person who edits, who slices through dumb shit with a flaming sword. They just happen to reside in the same head.

I dunno. Having founder-level conviction in an identity leads to personal crises that crash as hard as companies do. Declaring personal bankruptcy on a deeply held identity is harder than company, if for no other reason that other people don’t notice.
