Expectations are an attempt to control the world, and they will eventually disappoint or destroy. They're in the basket of things that need to be held lightly, along with identities and ideologies.

You may be right. I'm pretty sure I've been too far to the left for much of my life, in many ways, so I've been thinking in directionally appropriate terms for me.

I think it's nice to have strong identities without being attached to them. i.e. you choose when and where you express your identity
