I've found truth in both these aphorisms:
1. Creative insight is more about noticing and cultivating expansive mental states than it is about #hustleporn. Take a walk.
2. Screw that: butt. in. chair. "Stop not writing," per @annelamott
Twitter, how do you approach this conflict?

For that reason it's good to pay attention to how things are going, & rotate. When something's working well, keep going. When it's only working moderately, try other models of working, and try to find something which works. Which sounds trite; I only wish I did it consistently!

For me, it's not just 1 and 2. Also 3: talk with my friends & colleagues; 4: talk with new people; 5: go to events; 6: go on vacation; 7: read etc.

The most productive I've ever been was during a week-long vacation on Maui
. Oddly, it was a great vacation qua vacation, too. And: hello from Las Vegas! -
I wish I did better at following my own model... When your option 2 isn't working I tend to think "More 2 is required!" Within limits that's right, but over time is just crazy. But I still default to it!
