Talking to smart teenagers is often a good reminder of this. They haven't learned to screen things out yet!

yup; imo this happens bc most people develop a mental model of what they think the other people around them care about. this is a proxy, and a lossy one. outsiders regularly show up and blow people's minds by working with entirely different models, different sets of assumptions
