Since reading this 6 months ago, I've come to think it's half a dozen of the best paragraphs I've ever read on how to get much, much better at anything: (by @autotrnslucence )pic.twitter.com/dMoEwHtjfU

Somehow I omitted the link to the full piece, which is very well reading in its entirety:https://autotranslucence.wordpress.com/2018/03/30/becoming-a-magician/ …
One thing I've learned to do - too slowly, to my regret! - is to study those people. What do they do? _Why_ are they doing it? What's the gestalt? What are the big, obvious things that I would never think even to question, but which they do differently?
Everything from the tiniest mechanics to the largest gestalt, from the mundane to the remarkable is worth thinking about, and learning from. I know that sounds like a cliche, but I think it's true. There's so much to learn from in others that I think we often screen it out.
Lots more context on the essay, and some amazing pictures, from @autotrnslucence:https://twitter.com/autotrnslucence/status/1074503969735462913 …
Who are your magicians?
I've started to reply to this several times It's difficult to reply to Many people have played this role in my life. Some more than others, naturally. It's v personal, though, & those relationships matter a lot to me. That makes talking about them publicly s'thing done w care.
This is why I’m on Twitter — to meet more magicians :)
Excellent reason!
Yeah it sounds cliche but when I moved to the valley in 2010 (26 yrs old) it felt like “okay this is the world I always thought existed” but was beginning to lose hope in finding. Jack Ma tells it best with his story of in sv seeing “lights on at night and on the weekends”
Cheers and thanks
