Survival as a publishing researcher. The more surprising thing shown is not that people leave research, but that ppl entering more recently don't stay as long, ie. incumbent advantage, increased competition for research jobs.
Can we say it's a confirmation of post-modernity that we we are now publishing papers on the exponential growth of published papers? :)
