Do I gather that the left has successfully tabooed the concept of virtue signaling while I wasn’t looking? Presumably because it was effective in puncturing pretensions. It’s not a right/left thing, though…

Don't like what someone says? Accuse them of virtue signalling! It got old really quickly. Saw the term used a lot this way even when the person really was invested (e.g., had put their money where their mouth was, had made other sacrifices).
