Also, it sounds as though R. Keeling's work on O2 measurement was actually based on quite a bit of understanding of LIGO! It used laser interferometry. (Perhaps not so surprising: it's a hell of a delicate measurement, since O2 is ~500x as common in the atmosphere as CO2!)
