That feels orthogonal to defensibility. In pure software businesses, an idea nobody had before makes you first mover not gold medalist.

(Module patents, the fundamental monopoly nature of a good marketplace, etc. My point is that a great coder and a great ideas person both fundamentally make things that can be copied by someone with better execution who will then crush the original biz.)
