Even worse, thanks to relativity of simultaneity, which of those two events is observed to comes first depends on the rocket's direction of travel. (I think. My memory of my special relativity classes is now more than a decade rusty)

though in some ways I often think that this problem would act as a kind of date-time accelerationism. Interplanetary time keeping is *so* bad, that it might actually force us to do it properly, ditch all the silly calendaring stuff, and use the right abstractions for time.
