Every time I handle datetimes in software I'm newly shocked by how annoying it is to get right

Krugman is wrong here. There is going to be considerable ambiguity about causal ordering of spacelike separated events (of which there will be many). The obvious solution is to pick a preferred frame. But that will privilege certain traders over others in less preferred frames...pic.twitter.com/CdY5pDLILn

The good news: in special relativity, at least you still have a notion of causality. The bad news: in general relativity, that _may_ not be true (though the odds are probably good)...

A different way of thinking: suppose there's two events A (on Earth) & B (on Mars) which appear simultaneous in the Earth or Mars rest frame. When Earth & Mars at furthest distance those events will appear ~ 1 microsecond apart in the rocket frame, ie, thousands of clock cycles!

Even worse, thanks to relativity of simultaneity, which of those two events is observed to comes first depends on the rocket's direction of travel. (I think. My memory of my special relativity classes is now more than a decade rusty)
