The people who make trailers are mindbogglingly good at making information sticky.

Ha, I have a friend who wrote her master's thesis on the art of the movie trailer (she's an editor) --- it's more of a science, the way they do it.

Oh, yes! I can't resist saying: the first 3 minutes of "The Two Towers" are amongst my favourite in all cinema. They brought alive something that Tolkien had just barely hinted at in the books.

It brings alive something you strongly _feel_ through all the books, but rarely directly see.

This scene in the book does capture some of it, though: beneath the bonhomie and kindliness, Gandalf has a core of steel:pic.twitter.com/km1ZclFQxV

Fun fact: LOTR was translated to Hungarian by Árpád Göncz - it was Communism, he was an "enemy" to the regime, had to make ends meet. He then became the first democratic President of the Republic. So every Hungarian kid's first thought when opening the book is "huh WTF".

(Imagine seeing Gough Whitlam on the first page, or something similar hehe.)

Also, major kudos for knowing who Gough is!

Needless to say exceptional translation w language that makes you want to cry. Weird how in that region everything so filtered thru politics! All these translations by ppl who had no choice. Or: total dismissal of eg Star Trek: uniforms, common goals.. Rang 1 too many bells :D

Whereas ofc Star Wars was huge - individualist hero + Rebels :)))) Plus they overcome militarist regime. I guess it needed no trailer when it arrived to East Bloc in what I guess was like 1982
