I'd say inversely correlated. More often than not, the trailer is much, much better than the movie. Many great films are hard to capture in a trailer.
Not my experience, but certainly the correlation is not strong, perhaps 0.3 or 0.4 for me
Maybe a different, non-conflicting observation: you can make a great trailer for a terrible movie, and a poor trailer for a great movie, the former more common than the latter. Love trailers, btw.
