Good article. I’m still not convinced, though. Perhaps I’m an outlier, but I learned in college that note-taking is negative-value for me: I’m much better off just reading (more) material to learn concepts etc. Anki still seems too much like “better note-taking” to me.

Upon a few moments further reflection: yes, you're quite right. And the comment is really interesting.

In general, I'm a fan of what I call discovery fiction - basically providing accounts of how something _could_ have been discovered. (Actually, for this article, I guess it's discovery non-fiction.) And you're right: that style does seem effortful. But hopefully also insightful.
