And Goldman reminds me of http://ilab.usc.edu/surprise/ - and Mamet and Aristotle - the narrowing funnel of *discovery --> certainty* inherent in both learning and dramatic structures. You start with noise (not knowing) and gnaw your way forward until only inevitability remains.

Dialogue language works just like this: you start with *anything* + assumptions, and after each exchange the options narrow, offering less and less choice (i.e. "inverse" decision tree). A Hegelian tragedy's structure.
