I wonder if it’s even knowable, if there’s some hidden variable. I’m always surprised by how low the correlation is between my vid’s views on YT vs the chinese versions on Bilibili. Different demographics, sure, but maybe something illustrative of a fundamentally fickle result.

I believe Hollywood's actual tactics are more like spread betting, fund one massive movie with known "names" etc and also fund ten more tiny movies of emerging nobodies. Hopefully after several cycles of this one of those makes you more money than you spent.
