So true. +Give a talk. Reply to an invitation. Find good research questions. Negotiate with collaborators. Plan a research project. Plan a research program. Etc. So many of these things are difficult to figure out on your own, but others can help.
Oh: a really important one I missed: figure out how to say "no" to things! Took me years to figure this one out well.

It's not the same, but I used to do peer sexual assault education, and one of our things was to have trainees go around the circle clearly & respectfully propositioning each other, then go back around the other way saying "no".
