I think the value in this is: 1) You're forced to make the little things concrete. 2) You reconstruct the ideas at different levels 3) Ideas are processed with increased depth/detail. 4) Spaced repetition leads to fluency. on long time horizons.
Thanks. I've sort of always believed this, but have been very surprised at how much the habit of atomizing things has helped me.
I can so identify with this story. Inspired by the same essay, and been using it Anki extensively past few weeks and starting to form the habit of it. Valuable practice indeed.
