A striking thing about language is that is composable in certain ways. I can make an argument in which each step of the argument is self-evident, yet the conclusion is a surprising (but true) consequence of the premises.

I detect it v slowly IRL. Usual story: at talk by Famous Intellectual X/Y; while they speak I'm under the "effect", but walking outside, suddenly hits me ... "Huh??" This didn't make any sense & was "only" charisma! True: v difficult to do in writing, tho some can, esp in fiction
