If you take our constitution literally (it contains academic freedom), every job ad that asks for "articles in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journals" constitutes a violation of academic freedom. It's just so common that nobody ever got the idea to litigate it. :-)

Academic freedom is a rather... well, academic question. Only tenured researchers have any vestige of it, and most science is done by non-tenured researchers. But yes, any restriction - including on dissemination - is probably counterproductive to creation of knowledge.
