Is "AGI" really a major research agenda in your circles? In my worlds it's a bit of a fringe-y concept, mainstream as a meme but not as a faith.

I don't think you've granted the right premise, though. AGI will be able, not only to do the work that you're doing, but also do it faster and prioritize better.

Depends on your timelines really. "Next generation of humans" suggests you get to work until you retire. Some think AGI is sooner than that
