I understood the point above as not being about memorisation but more that saying the same thing in ten different ways, that are read on ten different occasions will tend to improve the ratio of people getting what you were trying to say.
It’s mean partially as a joke, since I doubt it’s the intent of the book writers. But it’s true that to memorize something it helps to (a) hear it multiple times over several weeks; & (b) to hear it in slightly different ways. Repetitive books (accidentally) achieve both those.
