We fell short of the 60 votes needed in the Senate to pass a 20 week abortion ban, but pro-lifers should take heart. A number of Senators commented on the gains pro-lifers have made among young adults. There are many reasons to be optimistic about the future.

Disappointing the 20 week abortion ban did not get enough votes in the Senate today, but don't despair. Let's defund Planned Parenthood & pass good protective laws at the state level. No matter where you live, you can always do something to build a culture of life!

The Senate vote on the Pain Capable Abortion Ban was 51-46 -- short of the necessary 60 votes. Thanks to the U.S. Senators who spoke eloquently on the bill's behalf and those of us on Twitter who got to trend.

I'm pleased that Senator and Senator both mentioned polling data which shows that millennials are more pro-life than previous generations of young adults. Pro-lifers have made impressive gains among the young!

The new poll shows 56% of *Democrats* and 56% of self described *pro-choicers* support a 20 week abortion ban. This is an issue that enjoys very broad public support.

In 2011, the Chronicle of Higher Education (hardly a pro-life outlet) published a story featuring respected embryologists who felt good research indicated that the unborn could feel pain at 20 weeks gestation.

20 states have already enacted bans on abortion after 20 weeks of gestation. The U.S. Senate should follow suit and pass the Pain Capable Abortion Ban.

Millennials and women are actually more likely than other demographic groups to support a 20 week abortion ban. The Pain Capable Abortion Ban is good politics and good policy!
