Thought about this yesterday. What advice would you give someone going into a relationship for the first time?

you don't get satisfaction out of the relationship by simply being in love. you get love out of getting satisfaction from the relationship. And satisfaction has multiple levels and dimensions.
I would then say good relationships (romantic or otherwise) are helped by knowing your values. It's ok when values are different but often become harder to manage when values are conflicting.

If you figure out your own values first you can then figure out the other person's values and use both to navigate conflicts present or future.
