Here's something I've noticed... Sammo's 2-on-1 choreography is the best in the biz because he's not trying to steal the show. He plays it like a good basketball play. He assists, his partner scores a point. Partner assists, Sammo scores. Assists are critical.pic.twitter.com/JzUuWWj9aq

Sammo was daai-goh (big brother) for his entire career starting from when he choreographed Hapkido with Wang In Sik as his muse. Sammo's entire career has been predicated on not only making himself look good, but surrounding himself with the best and making them shine.

Jackie Chan directed Sammo once in Project A (1983) but never again. Sammo, on the other hand, still hired Jackie and the other Fortunes and made them shine. When you're a daai-goh like Sammo, you run shows. You don't ask for bit parts, because you don't need em.

Sammo's action wasn't a one-man-show. He was vulnerable, he didn't hide his weight, and women laughed at him. Sammo's choreography is an exhibition of his attitude: raise everyone up, and the action will shine. As a result, he's had an incredible 50-year run as Daai-goh. Respect.
