is MotionBuilder the only way to save multiple takes in an .fbx file?

I think. No sure thought that you can import them all into the time editor which would populate the time editor tab in the game exporter with the clips. From there I imagine you can export a single fbx with all those takes

Yep, that'll work. You could script all of that too if you need to batch stuff.
