Hi Micah! Find the solution for overheating provided in the Safety Guide under the "Use and Handling" section and follow steps 1-4: http://tinyurl.com/ya6c65q2

Hi there. It’s been like this since day 1, have had it in totally open air and same noise. Looking at the link/manual you provided there’s only one mention of overheating and no steps to follow.

Reading the internet it’s a common problem with specific units, and you play the lottery when exchanging and returning. I assume there’s something wrong with their heatsink/cpu contact.

I'm sorry Bashiok, but you don't have to read the internet if you don't respect the instructions in the manual. They specificallysay "do not use the system in a closed cabinet or other locations where heat may build up" - which is exactly what you did lol.

Also, from same manual "Avoid prolonged use of the PS4", "...after the system cools down, move it to a location with good ventilation, and then resume use". While these entries from the manual may look absurd (I agree), they're there and not much to do if you don't respect them.
