Finally took the plunge into a 4k set. Last TV I purchased was a plasma in 2010. Was hoping OLED would’ve been a bit cheaper by now for the size I’ve wanted, but the new high end Samsung QLED’s convinced me to jump in. This should be fun.

That was worded oddly. I know QLED isn’t the same as OLED.

One thing I kinda don't agree with on Samsung, the naming change from Quantum Dot to QLED was only done to confuse people into thinking it's the same (or better) than OLED when it isn't.

Yeah I mean that’s marketing. Same reason Xbox chose “360” to compete with a PlayStation 3. Not always confusion. Sometimes just wanting to keep a level field. And at least for this year’s Samsung models (or the q9fn specifically) they are very very close.

Kind of, but extra shittier than those examples. For how good Samsung is at making OLED for phones I find it odd they can't translate that into TV size, and the opposite for LG.

They keep talking trash on OLED for large displays people are using for years/decades. I assume that’ll stay the situation until they get to a point where QLED or whatever just consistently fails to beat them or keep a reasonable price distance.

A little unrelated, but Samsung just released a cinema screen that's not a projector and it seems hella tight.

Dang it. Should I have gotten one of those?
