They can still message you. The whole point of connections is that you know that person and can help introduce people you know. If you don’t know someone they aren’t a connection. “Can you give my resume to that guy?” “Oh I dunno who that is I just added him one day lol.”

Also I find a lot of people accept any and all invites and so you end up with some weird company stalkers who try to friend everyone, get a couple people to accept, and then others see “oh they know so and so I guess it’s ok” but guess what they don’t and also they’re a murderer
