Did the Internet work just fine two years ago? Then there's no reason not to repeal "#NetNeutrality

Does the internet not work fine now? The straw man is sad you summoned him so poorly.

It actually doesn’t. The ability for transit providers to exercise traffic differentiation has huge potential without which many things are impossible. For ex traffic for browsing Facebook shouldn’t be treated the same as traffic for performing surgery remotely

It's a good argument taking it all the way to life support vs. social media, and that's obviously extreme, but in your example how will companies determine that traffic hierarchy? Morals? Following their conscience?

And to what extent are companies held to a standard to ensure a high quality/speed network for all of their customers while they're busy selling off bandwidth carve outs to the highest bidder or tax-funded projects?

These days large content providers have their own network infrastructures. They don’t rely on transit ISPs like Comcast or AT&T to ensure high quality content delivery to end users

And that isn’t an extreme example. It’s pointing out that all traffic on the web shouldn’t be treated the same. QoS should differ depending on the use

Why should traffic for live video be treated the same as traffic to upload a word document on a cloud sever?

Because placing 100% of that control in the hands of the profit-driven companies is obviously not going to last long before someone gets too greedy. Which, hey, if that's what's needed to get to an actual real change of internet classification, then fine.

So, if your argument is this is a necessary step to a properly regulated internet, I will agree. It's an unfortunate reality that humans don't make a leap to the best solutions before seeing and experiencing the worst.
