I feel like a joyless fart head when I watch another bewildering Death Stranding cinematic short and see everyone around me losing their minds and drooling over it. Is it a game that I should be excited about playing? The visuals are very nice, but ... I just don't get it.

As a setting, I am interested in what they're showing. As a game? I have no opinion, because I haven't seen the dang game. :P
I guess I'm almost not interested because it seems to be cryptic and weird for the sake of being cryptic and weird? Which I find just kind of annoying.

Oh for sure. The engagement they're going for is the mystery of it, and it only really works if you have a high tolerance for the purposely inscrutable. Which shouldn't be expected. It's being shared for the "what" factor more than anything.
