Hot take: #TheGameAwards shouldn’t be popularity votes, and allowing them to be decided by the public (who absolutely haven’t played all the games in the category they’re voting for) undermines their value.

That might make public votes feel like they’re in competition with the outlets. Us vs them. But sure, if it works.
