How should developers meet the costs of AAA buy-to-play video game development and publishing?
Yeah. Although. I'm not sure it was as massive as it became. On a design level IMO they put some unlock rates too high. That's not like the worst thing in the world? The press response they came up with definitely should not have gone on Reddit...

I guess all things are relative to a playerbase. I didn't preorder this time after how badly I got burned with the first one, and I doubt I'm the only fan who's already on edge with EA's decisions with the IP. That could be part of the extreme response.

That said, microtransactions/DLC don't bother me until they affect gameplay, and it looks like (I'm not following closely) that the microtransacts EA's planned affect gameplay. They already made the 3-day headstart locked behind the higher priced preorders. :|
