Games are expensive to make and run. AAA boxed games really haven't changed prices, even to match inflation/royalties. Which is also largely dictated by console manufacturers. Just selling a big AAA game for $60 is no longer enough. What's the solve?
1886 was a ... unique situation. For sure. And I think they paid that price, whether earned or not. CoD campaigns usually take me like 7? But I think it's interesting value is generally only based on time spent, and not quality or impact of an experience.

If you offer me a grocery store tomato that smells and tastes like nothing, or an organic locally grown tomato that looks and smells and tastes infinitely better, I'm willing to pay more for that. Why doesn't that translate to video entertainment?

I guess the only thing that comes to mind is a game is infinitely duplicated so if the game is awesome it will sell more for more profit. For example zelda botw sold 4.7m copies last I checked and had a budget of 120m.

I see you point I agree. I believe I beat Mario oddesey is about 6 hours taking my time and snagging all the moons I could. Ended with around 300 stars out of lol 900 but that game is amazing. I've put double that since trying to collect all the moons.
