Boy, Star Trek: Discovery looks like it's not the ST show I want. But understand the brand is in a different place now. Oh well.

What were you hoping for?
Not a JJ Abrams show. It looks like an action drama. Star Trek to me is talking about real world social issues through the lens of sci-fi.

Could also be the marketing is really hyping up exploding ships over what the show actually is?

That's what I've been assuming - the discussions I've heard about the first half of the first season have me hoping for DS9 2.0
