Not sure it's your thing, but Civ VI is probably going to be a better game than most of those. For me. :)
I like Civ, but it just always feels like a waste of time playing them. Afterward I don't come away with new ideas/experiences.

Overall it's a game of mechanics, so after a game of 5 hours or so, at the end I only take away further knowledge of mechanics.
