Well the expectation is the more powerful console has a lot of VR functionality built in, and can power it better.
But I'm all for yearly hardware cycles like cell phones, as long as they can get the back compat/performance scaling right.

Will be tricky. They have to make it so the old hardware runs the games well while also taking advantage of the new hardware.

Even on PC you see most devs fail at this. If you buy low end hardware you are forced to upgrade every couple of years.
