      Want to hear a weird Blizzard story? We weren't allowed to refer to players as "fans." An exec had at some point realized fan is short for fanatic, and it had a slightly negative connotation. So that was it. Like a weird Disney-cast-members-can't-point kind of rule. We lived it.

      TotalBiscuit used to say this way back in the day. "Don't call yourself my fan. It's short for fanatic, and I don't want fanatical followers who don't question me". Possible origin?

          I want to point out that a lot of us possibly didn't even know of TB until around '09 & '10 until SC2 & Cataclysm betas released. His channel was having a growth spurt at the time if I recall correctly, but wouldn't be surprised if he was saying such things way back before then!
