I wish anti-maskers would put as much energy into fighting the concept of Home Owner's Associations. Wanna talk about something that makes you pay to follow the rules? (points)

There are some benefits to an HOA. Like make it so your neighbor doesn't decide to park broken down cars on his lawn, bringing down your property value. They can suck too. Once had an HOA make me move my direct TV dish to a different part of my roof because of "rules"

That's not how property values work. Property value is solely based on comparable housing to yours being sold in "close proximity". You might get a prospective buyer that doesn't like broken down cars in the neighbor's yard, but that isn't a property value issue.

It is if houses around that house sell for less because of the unsightly appearance and lack of maintenance. If I have a choice between similar properties at similar price points, but one house has a neighbor with broken appliances sitting in the yard, that’s a no brainer.

      *shrug* sorry about your prejudices

I am prejudiced against neighbors keeping broken down cars on their lawn. There. I said it.

How very classist of you. How do you propose someone store the things they own if there is no longer space in their house, but they can't afford the ridiculous cost of renting a place? It isn't like the city would let them store it on the street.

Really reaching with a classist position. I simply prefer not to look at a neighbors junk, just like they can prefer to leave their junk in their yard. No judgement either way.
