It really does matter. A kettle brings water to a rolling boil which incorporates a lot of air into the water. I had "tea" made with microwaved water many times in the US and it tastes completely wrong - flat and weird. It makes a huge difference.

It's a pretty nice CuisinArt, we use it every day for tea. I'm not saying kettles should not be used, I'm saying they quite matter of factly work slower in the US than microwaving.

110v doesn't matter - what wattage is the kettle? Assuming you have W is the US? A 3kw kettle will boil water very quickly, though in the US it would be.. er.. 27 amps. How powerful are your electricity circuits?
